What We Need

As we build alliances with policymakers who share our vision, Green 2.0 is adding a full-time deputy director to support the executive director in our programmatic efforts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with and contextual knowledge of federal policy, a mind for strategy and critical thinking, and the desire to learn about the environmental movement landscape, along with a high degree of initiative, attention to detail, and intellectual engagement with relevant subject matter.

Responsibilities

● Research: Creating, implementing, and monitoring strategic and tactical communications plans and public relations strategies.
● Writing and Content Development: Drafting letters, congressional testimony, and other written materials; transcribing/copy-editing, and distributing minutes, notes, action items, and reports.
● Internal Engagement: Engaging directly with internal teams; contributing to strategy and counsel; participating in on-site facilitation of training and workshops.
● External Engagement/Event Management: Assisting in the planning, coordination, and staffing of meetings, convenings, conferences, and panels, including venue logistics, registrations, marketing and outreach, attendee and speaker communications, on-site support, and vendor management.
● Fellows Management: Overseeing a successful fellowship program that provides early-career professionals with experience and mentorship.
● Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
● Extensive experience on Capitol Hill a must.
● Residence in Washington, D.C. or close environs is essential.
● Strong proficiency with internet research, Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; professional experience with social media applications and web content management systems a plus.
● Ability to develop communications and advocacy strategies.
● A collaborative and relationship-building mindset. Must be able to proactively identify potential challenges/conflicts and communicate with team members with a problem-solving approach.
● Strong writing, layout and editing skills; experience with desktop publishing tools.
● Strong oral and written communication skills are a non-negotiable requirement. Candidates must have the demonstrable ability to quickly produce clear, compelling written copy, and to communicate professionally and diplomatically with a wide range of staff, partners and stakeholders.
● Ability to thrive and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
● Demonstrable project and time management skills across multiple assignments with many moving parts.
● Prior event coordination experience preferred.

Compensation

$85-95,000 commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
