ABOUT THE EXPERT:

​​Abel is a Program Associate at the Center for Effective Global Action at the University of California Berkeley. He is passionate about the adoption of digital agricultural innovations in Africa, and co-founded an initiative that uses drone data to help smallholder farmers adapt to the impacts of climate change. Abel graduated from the Coastal Science & Policy Masters Program at UC Santa Cruz. He leads programs that build STEM-focused schools, libraries, computer labs, and clean cookstove manufacturing to reduce indoor air pollution and deforestation and mitigate climate change in Malawi. Abel is a 2021 CGI U Alumni and recipient of the 2021 prize for the Verizon-CGI U Social Innovation Challenge on Climate Change.
