ABOUT THE EXPERT:

Val (elle/they/them) is a first generation Chicane raised in the Valle de San Joaquín of California. Their interest in water systems stemmed from growing up in a farmworker comunidad near the San Joaquín River. They hold a PhD and MS in agricultural engineering from Purdue University and a BS double majoring in Biological Engineering and Natural Resources from Cornell University. They enjoy gardening, powerlifting, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks.
