ABOUT THE EXPERT:
Lavannya Pulluveetil Barrera is an interdisciplinary strategist, advocate, and facilitator with over a decade of experience in the environmental, energy, and climate justice movements. As a consultant, she supports leaders in translating their values into action by creating solutions grounded in justice, learning, and collaborative problem-solving. Lavannya has supported and launched energy justice efforts nationwide with her grant writing, curriculum development and training, stakeholder and community engagement, facilitation, and strategy and program design services.
Lavannya previously served as a Program Officer at The Climate and Clean Energy Equity Fund, leading c3 and c4 grantmaking in the Midwest. Before joining the Fund, Lavannya developed Vote Solar’s community education and partnership initiatives and supported the organization’s work to build an inclusive culture. In addition, Lavannya was a Tom Graff Diversity Fellow with Environmental Defense Fund focused on the equitable implementation of clean energy legislation in Illinois. In 2019, she was honored by Midwest Energy News 40 Under 40 recognition. Originally from the Bronx, Lavannya continues to call Chicago home.
