ABOUT THE EXPERT:

Ramona Moore Big Eagle, M.Ed. (Tuscarora/Cherokee) is President and CEO of Dare to Soar Enterprises, a company she started in 1991. The company’s purpose is to inspire and empower people of all ages in all walks of life to become even more effective communicators through the power of Storytelling. Ramona is an internationally renowned TEDx Speaker and Storyteller as well as an Oral Historian and Legend Keeper. In addition, she is also an Environmental Educator and Master Naturalist.

Ramona received a Master of Education Degree from East Tennessee State University in Reading and Storytelling and a B.A. Degree from Catawba College. Ramona, who has been teaching for over two decades, was honored as Teacher of the Year in Drama for 2001-2002 at Community School of the Arts and received the 2012 Faculty Leadership Award from the University of Phoenix where she has taught for 14 years. Ramona travels throughout the United States and Canada as a Motivational Speaker, Storyteller, Cultural Educator, Consultant, and Workshop Facilitator. Her workshops and programs are in high demand for educating and empowering audiences of all ages.

Ramona does numerous corporate workshops on: Leadership through Storytelling, Finding Your Corporate Story, Team Building, Motivation, Diversity and Inclusion. Ramona is the Founder and President of the Storytellers Guild of Charlotte, Inc. She is also a member of the National Storytelling Network, and the NC and SC Storytelling Guilds. A winner of numerous awards and recognitions as a professional Speaker and Storyteller, Ramona has been a featured speaker at various Literacy, Corporate, and Association Conferences, schools, libraries, corporate meetings, museums, historical sites, Red Ribbon Week, festivals, churches and camps.

After many years of teaching and working with students, Ramona has developed a leading Literacy program called STARS – Storytelling to Teach And Reach Students. STARS utilizes the latest in brainbased research and multiple intelligences to enrich the curriculum and enhance students’ literacy skills. STARS will have students telling, writing, reading, and acting out their stories with JOY. After collaborating with the teachers to assess their needs and goals, a presentation, residency, workshop, or inservice is custom-designed to be age appropriate and curriculum based. Ramona enriches any curriculum subject with her interactive, engaging, and entertaining storytelling. Ramona also offers programming addressing Native American Indian Culture, History, Social Studies, Character Education, Drug/Tobacco/Suicide Prevention, Conflict Resolution, Diversity, Multiculturalism, Motivation, SelfEsteem, and Leadership by Storytelling. When presenting American Indian Culture, Ramona erases stereotypes and myths concerning the culture and provides programming that covers aspects of daily life in lodging, clothing, survival techniques, artifacts, foods, art, dance, stories, language, music and beliefs from the past to the present. All programs are custom-designed to be age appropriate and curriculum based. Ramona enriches any curriculum subject with her interactive and entertaining storytelling. Participants experience American Indian culture through hands on and engaging activities. Listeners have the opportunity for a question and answer period during each presentation.
