The following is a statement from Whitney Tome, Executive Director of Green 2.0, on the recent announcement that Earthjustice has named Abigail “Abbie” Dillen their new President:
“Over the years, Green 2.0 has been delighted by the leadership of retiring president Trip Van Noppen on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts at Earthjustice. He has worked thoughtfully and intentionally to increase the number of people of color among the organization’s senior leadership, created a Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion position, and started to embed equity and justice within the organization’s everyday practices. We’re sad to see him go, but inspired by the legacy that he’s leaving behind on environmental policy, litigation, regulation, and DEI.
We congratulate Abigail Dillen as she ascends to the helm of the organization, and look forward to learning more about her vision on equity, inclusion, and justice. With new leadership comes the opportunity for clear implementable steps to further and deepen Trip’s legacy in advancing people of color throughout the ranks of Earthjustice, but also in the legal and legislative work of the organization into the future.”
