ABOUT THE EXPERT:

Laura Diaz is the Director of the Educator Collective for Environmental Justice. She works to empower and support formal and informal educators, community and youth to imagine and co-create environmental justice solutions. She partners with frontline environmental justice communities to support community-driven research by partnering with community health workers and youth as they explore research questions whose answers can impact their community. Laura is a Ph.D. student in Environmental Health Sciences at UC Berkeley where she utilizes biomarkers to study the subcellular impact of air pollution exposure and toxic stress in frontline environmental justice children. She is a former High School Educator and Science Friday Educator who understands the profound impact that educators play within their school communities and beyond. She has also co-founded Partners for Equity and Research at Sonoma State University, which is a health equity and environmental justice research hub for students, faculty, and community to engage in these topics and research..
