About Us

The Problem

Historically marginalized communities are the most impacted by environmental problems, but the least represented in decision-making in the sector.

Our Mission

Green 2.0 serves as an accountability partner championing the environmental sector’s commitment to an inclusive and equitable movement. Through actionable research and resources, we drive culture change so that historically marginalized communities can thrive and lead on environmental issues.

OUR HISTORY

Launched in 2014 as a working group of thought leaders at the intersection of the environment and race, Green 2.0 commissioned the first report of its kind, “The State of Diversity in Environmental Organizations” authored by Dr.  Dorceta Taylor, and followed up its groundbreaking research with additional initiatives tracking demographic data, reports on executive searches organizational culture, and “3R Forums” focused on helping NGOs implement better policies for readiness, recruitment and retention.

It’s critical that communities of color are represented at both the staff and leadership level in environmental organizations, and in foundations that can fund and empower community-led groups burdened by pollution and the climate crisis. Regular updates on the diversity of the environmental movement brings transparency and accountability inside and outside environmental organizations. It’s critical for a more inclusive and equitable movement.
