ABOUT THE EXPERT:

Carolina has worked for United Nations agencies including the International Organization for Migration and the Pan American Health Organization. Additionally, Carolina worked for more than a decade at the Organization of American States where she facilitated technical assistance and knowledge sharing for the clean energy transition in more than 30 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. In the United States, Latinos bear a disproportionate burden of the effects of climate change and air pollution. Everyone has the right to breathe clean air.

With this concern, in 2022 Carolina joined EcoMadres to open spaces for dialogue and build political power in the Latino community to demand action for clean air and a healthy environment. Carolina Peña leads Moms Clean Air Force; Latino engagement program, EcoMadres as program manager. Moms Clean Air Force is an affiliate of the Environmental Defense Fund. Carolina holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in Environment and Energy Management, and is a member of the Climate Reality Project. She is a native Bolivian and currently lives in Arlington, Virginia.
