Chira Noce

AFFILIATION: Bluff Lake Nature Center

TITLE: Education Director

LOCATION: Colorado

LANGUAGE: English

EXPERTISE AREA: Environmental Education, Outdoors/Recreation, Youth

ABOUT THE EXPERT:

Chira grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she developed her love for the outdoors in the Sandia Mountains through hiking and potlucks at the peak. She holds a bachelor degree in Environmental Science from Regis University. Chira enjoys watching students create personal connections to nature and develop new interests through educational programming. She likes to spend her free time with her dog, baking sweets, traveling, and being outside paddleboarding, slacklining, or hiking!

She has moved through several different educational spaces in her professional journey including AmeriCorps, Montessori, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and Bluff Lake Nature Center (a non-profit). She is currently the Education Director at Bluff Lake Nature Center and feels that she has accumulated knowledge and experience on working in non-traditional education systems and utilizing social emotional and experiential learning to connect people to the outdoors. She has experience expanding programming to accommodate students with physical and/or learning disabilities. As a neurodivergent, bi-racial individual, she finds that outdoor learning environments are so important to make available at an early age in order to build positive, and safe spaces in nature for all individuals.
