ABOUT THE EXPERT:

Dr. Edwin Hernández-Delgado has a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, with a Master of Science in Biology (Microbial Ecology) and a PhD in Tropical Biology (Coral Reef Ecology) from UPR. He has post-doc experience in Coral Diseases. He is a Senior Scientist at NGO Sociedad Ambiente Marino, Professor at UPR-Río Piedras at the Faculty of Natural Sciences Interdisciplinary Program and the Department of Environmental Sciences. He is also an Affiliate Researcher of the Center for Applied Tropical Ecology and Conservation (CATEC) at UPR. His research areas include Marine Ecology, Anthropogenic and Climate Change Impacts on Coral Reef, Seagrass and Reef Fish Communities, Coral Reef Restoration Ecology, Coral Disease Dynamics, and Marine Conservation Biology. Dr. Hernández has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and mentored graduate and undergraduate students in research.
