I am a results-driven PhD marine bio-oceanographer with 30 years of experience, specializing in advancing sustainable ocean conservation through science-based solutions and cross-sector collaboration. With a proven track record of 15 years in senior management, I’ve effectively led teams and partnerships to achieve measurable outcomes in policy, marine biodiversity conservation, and fisheries sustainability. My leadership at Point Blue Conservation Science includes doubling program funds to $2.5M, leading marine conservation working groups, and securing leadership roles in evaluating the effectiveness of management actions to prevent whale ship strikes. I’ve published over 90 papers and collaborated with federal agencies, academia, and NGOs, driving impactful change. My expertise extends to ocean zoning, resource management, and strategic planning, where I’ve leveraged scientific insights to build support for conservation. I’ve supervised staff and co-founded the Applied California Current Ecosystem Studies Program. I serve as an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Biology at San Francisco State University, where I advised/mentored 42 graduate students.
