ABOUT THE EXPERT:

John Fleming, Ph.D. is a Senior Scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity in its Climate Law Institute. In this role, Fleming’s scientific work supports legal and grassroots campaigns to protect people, wildlife, and ecosystems from climate change while working to speed the transition from greenhouse gas-emitting fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy sources. Currently, his work focuses on the need to phase out oil and gas extraction at the California state and national levels, and the need to reduce emissions from the transportation sector. Fleming received his Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Southern California and an undergraduate degree in Geosciences and a certificate in Environmental Studies from Princeton University.
