ABOUT THE EXPERT:

Leah Mupas Segui supports Pew’s preventing ocean plastics project. She provides technical expertise and coordinates international collaborations to advance the project’s goal of developing enforceable policies that will reduce the amount of plastic waste entering marine waters.

Before joining Pew, Segui was a Knauss Policy Fellow with the GEO Blue Planet initiative and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service, where she managed international partnerships that support global ocean policy frameworks.

Segui holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from San Diego State University and a doctorate in zoology from Oregon State University.
