ABOUT THE EXPERT:
Lashelle Johnson (they/she) is the State Equity Policy Director at the League of Conservation Voters. Lashelle serves as the primary policy contact for LCV’s 30+ state leagues, offering research and policy expertise to develop campaigns, strategies, and expertise across the network on all things clean energy. Lashelle also provides policy guidance that centers racial and economic justice from development to codification and supports LCV’s 30+ state leagues in advocating for the equitable implementation of bold climate policy—including ensuring the benefits of federal laws like BIL and IRA are felt in our communities. Formerly, Lashelle served as a policy analyst at the Virginia Department of Taxation and conducted DE&I research while at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center for Public Policy. Lashelle also works with localities and legislators on environmental policy, most recently consulting with the City of Richmond, Virginia on the equitable implementation of Virginia’s Clean Economy Act. Lashelle has a Master of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and is an alum of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership.
