The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision last week regarding affirmative action threatens almost 40 years of progress at leveling the field in college admissions. The decision is a huge step backward for prospective students and not only threatens college admissions but may very well impact the current face of the workforce that affirmative action helped change.

These groups include Green 2.0, Union of Concerned Scientists, National Wildlife Federation, Greenpeace USA, NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), The Nature Conservancy, and League of Conservation Voters.

Green 2.0 – the movement builder working to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the green movement — today condemned the National Audubon Society’s failures to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. A recent report by E&E News highlights concerns, both internal and external, over Audubon’s culture and lack of action. Repeated staff complaints of a toxic work environment at Audubon — combined with repeated turnover of staff in its diversity office — are alarming and unacceptable. People of color remain underrepresented in positions of leadership at Audubon, despite some progress over the last few years.

On December 13th, 2022, Green 2.0 released its sixth NGO & Foundation Transparency Report Card. This 2022 report reflects data collected from over 80 environmental NGOs and foundations on the racial and ethnic diversity of their full-time staff, senior staff, heads of organizations, and boards. It also include new diversity, equity and inclusion metrics, and provide comprehensive updates on progress being made in the movement.

Green 2.0 – the independent campaign working to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the green movement – today released its sixth annual NGO and Foundation Transparency Report Card which found growing diversity in environmental organizations, but that the share of people of color in senior roles decreased slightly. This year’s report had a record-breaking 20 foundations participating, but more transparency and participation is required from funders to build a more representative movement. The Report Card launch is supported by a video of key takeaways, featuring award-winning actress and philanthropist Rosario Dawson.
