Green 2.0 Releases Annual NGO & Foundation Transparency Report Card, Reveals Diversity Progress But Many Foundations Remain Silent

Green 2.0 – the independent campaign working to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the green movement – today released its sixth annual NGO and Foundation Transparency Report Card which found growing diversity in environmental organizations, but that the share of people of color in senior roles decreased slightly. This year’s report had a record-breaking 20 foundations participating, but more transparency and participation is required from funders to build a more representative movement. The Report Card launch is supported by a video of key takeaways, featuring award-winning actress and philanthropist Rosario Dawson.

Green 2.0 Releases First-of-its-Kind National Poll on Voters of Color & Climate Change

Green 2.0 – the independent campaign working to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the environmental movement – today, released a first-of-its-kind national poll that found 62% of voters of color are more likely to support candidates who prioritize climate action, climate change has broken through as a top tier issue on par with abortion/reproductive rights and gun violence, and that a majority of voters believe that organizations working to address climate change should be racially and ethnically diverse.

Twenty New Environmental Organizations Commit to Green 2.0’s Pay Equity Pledge to Close the Wage Gap in the Green Movement

Green 2.0 – the independent campaign working to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the environmental movement – today, announced that twenty new major environmental organizations have taken Green 2.0’s Pay Equity Pledge to close the pay gap in the green movement, including Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Earthjustice. Since the launch, a total of 37 top environmental organizations have pledged to address any pay inequities found in their organizations to increase transparency and accountability toward winning an environmental strategy that supports all communities.

Defenders of Wildlife has been profiled for its “nightmare” workplace environment that has cultivated a “culture of fear” according to a new Politico news article. This is not the first time the national conservation organization has come under fire for its staff policies.
