At Greenpeace USA, we’re centering our movement on the most impacted and marginalized to ensure no one gets left behind. To effectively challenge the systems of power and privilege that destroy the environment, we must meet people where they are, going to the most directly impacted people–workers, people of faith, young people and students, parents, Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities–and craft solutions together.

For more than 100 years, NPCA has been honored to carry on this responsibility. Together with our community partners, we protect and defend America’s national parks — and are inspiring the next generation of advocates to speak out and care for them, too.

Justice Outside advances racial justice and equity in the outdoor and environmental movement. We shift resources to, build power with, and center the voices and leadership of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color because the health of current and future generations demands it.

For nearly 50 years, the mission of American Rivers has been to protect wild rivers, restore damaged rivers and conserve clean water for people and nature. Today, this mission is more vital than ever, and we envision a future of clean water and healthy rivers for everyone, everywhere. To achieve our mission and vision, we must cultivate diversity, promote equity and foster inclusion in all aspects of our work.

Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC) is a grassroots, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Established in 1966, PCDC advocates for the growing population of Chinese Americans in Philadelphia, specifically in the Chinatown neighborhood.

As 2021 comes to an end, we look back at this year’s spotlight partnerships and the vital work our partners do to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice both internally within their own organization and externally in their communities.

NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) works to safeguard the earth—its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. In order to be part of a broad and powerful environmental and climate movement, we understand the utmost importance of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice—both in how we work internally, and how we support communities externally. We’re committed to following through to make sure our actions live up to our goals.

WE ACT for Environmental Justice was founded in 1988 to address the environmental racism impacting West Harlem. WE ACT remains connected to their Harlem roots, with more than 800 members supporting their mission to build healthier communities by ensuring that people of color and low-income participate meaningfully in the creation of just and equitable environmental policies and practices. WE ACT has grown to become a nationally recognized leader in the environmental and climate justice movements. It run programs throughout Northern Manhattan and advocate for policies at the city, state, and federal levels – having opened a Federal Policy Office in Washington, DC in 2012.

LCV (League of Conservation Voters) envision a world in which tackling the climate crisis, confronting environmental injustice, and strengthening our democracy lead to cleaner and healthier communities, good, well-paying jobs, and a more just, equitable, and sustainable planet for all.
